about

While seeing Eric Gardner's wife on the news one evening, I was overcome with sadness as I listened to her speak about how she was now faced with the task of figuring out how she was going to provide for her children with her husband gone... I immediately wanted to do something... I wanted to write something... I wanted more people to care... this record was the result.

lyrics

Who Cares (by Carl "Cioni Brasco" Harris)

Intro speaking:
There comes a point, where injustice eventually affects everyone…
When you realize that whether or not you can change anything,
You have a responsibility to say something… Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown, Eric Garner… and so many others, but who really cares?

Verse 1:
Somebody once told me that death was life’s necessity
So for the time that I’ve got here to give the best of me
But what about that little youngin’ that’s still growing up…
He’s starting to think that early death is just his destiny
And we can definitely turn this thing into a black thing
But I’d prefer to turn this into a react thing
Cuz in the end it’s still a life taken before it’s time
And so no matter how you spin it that’s a wack thing

Chorus:
Tell me who cares?
If I died would anybody even cry for me?
Would the news care?
If they murdered me as long we went quietly
And do YOU care?
That there’s no justice no peace,
It ain’t safe in the streets…
You think you are safe cuz we are different…
But take a closer look we really ain’t so different…

Verse 2:
Gotta do better for our future,
It’s wrong when you can’t trust the police for nothing but to shoot ya
Or choke ya, or yoke ya, or do whatever else just to provoke ya
I swear it’s like today we gotta live our lives like soldiers
Is it the color of my skin that makes me less?
Or how I wear my pants the way I dress?
The music that listen too, the way I sometimes smoke when I am stressed
Whatever reason that they would admit we still a mess…

Breakdown Talking:
I just wanna send this out to all of the families that have lost someone in an act of senseless violence. The police officers… in no way was that an action that was correct… but violence begat violence… so let’s show love, because all lives matters… You’re life matters!

Outro Talking:
We can even life together, or die together… we ain’t got that many options…
Let’s work together for a better future… Who cares? I care…
